Spin and land on a random spot anywhere on Earth, or inside a country, state or city you pick. Free, no sign-up.
The map drops a pin and names the place. Spin again for a new one. Your choices stay set after a refresh, so you can keep spinning from where you left off.
Every place pick starts on "Any". Leave it there and each spin picks a new continent, country or state for you. Antarctica has no towns in our list, so In a continent: Antarctica lands on a point on the ice.
Pick a country, such as the USA, India, the UK or the Philippines, and every spin lands on a town inside it. Pick a state, such as Texas or Tasmania, to narrow it further.
The part you leave random shows biggest in the result. Pick Any country and you see the country name first. Pick Italy and you see the town first, with its region and country under it.
Set "How many places?" to any number up to 500 and one spin gives you the whole list. Each place shows as a numbered pin on the map and a row in the list. Tap a row to find its pin, or a pin to find its row.
Copy the list, or download it as CSV, GeoJSON or plain text. Each row has latitude, longitude, town, state, country and continent where they apply.
Anywhere and On land spread points evenly over the globe. Places near the poles do not come up more often than they should.
For a single place:
Every spin on the map comes with a seed, a short code such as IT-12-7Q2KHB. Open Seed, paste the code and spin to get the same places again. Send it to a class or a friend and everyone gets the same list.
Switch the view to "Spin the globe!" and watch a globe spin and land on your place. It shows one place per spin. The Spin the Globe page opens on the globe, set to a random country.
Towns come from GeoNames: 64,441 towns of 5,000 people or more, in 246 countries and territories. Country shapes come from Natural Earth. Your browser draws the map and picks the places, with no account and no app. More on the About page.

With Anywhere and On land, every spot has the same chance. With "Any" picked, each country (or continent, or state) has the same chance, and then each town in it does.
Only with Anywhere. On land and the continent, country, state and city picks always land on land. Antarctica has no towns, so it lands on a point on the ice.
Yes. Choose In a country or In a state and pick one, such as the USA, India or the UK. Every spin lands on a town there.

A short code that brings back the same places. Paste it under Seed and spin to get the exact same result again.
Only for the "how far from you" line. Your browser asks on the first spin, and your location stays in your browser. Say no and everything else works the same. See the Privacy page.
The list holds towns of 5,000 people or more. If a place looks wrong, send the share link or seed from the Contact page.
